Corporate Governance

MPRDA

Our commitment to strong corporate governance and ethical standards is integral to our business. ZAC’s business strategy aims to achieve sustainable growth and effective risk management. The tactical leadership of ZAC’s Board of Directors underpins the success of our operations.

We align with the South African Codes of Corporate Governance and relevant legislation, including the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act (MPRDA), which outlines the legal framework for mining rights in South Africa. Additionally, we adhere to legislation such as the Mining Titles Registration Act of 1967, the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Royalty Act of 2008, and the Mine Health and Safety Act of 1996, prioritising the well-being of our employees. We continuously refine our governance framework to uphold exemplary standards.

Our adherence to environmental regulations is primarily governed by our Environmental Authorisations, Environmental Management Programmes (EAs and EMPs), and Water Use Licences (WULs). These are formulated and endorsed in accordance with the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 and the National Water Act 36 of 1998, respectively. We emphasise compliance, viewing it as an integral part of our Corporate Responsibility to mitigate environmental impact. Throughout our mine's licensing, operational, and closure phases, we meticulously consider and, where necessary, comply with all pertinent ecological and other legislation.
